There’s good and bad points about being addicted to beauty videos on YouTube; on the one hand you can blend a smokey eye to perfection, on the other you’re left with a wish list longer than your swatched-up arm.

If you live in the UK, it seems every beauty guru and their grandma jets off to the States on an almost monthly basis just to hit the shops and make us feel exceedingly jealous. Sure, we can get Sephora shipped over here but it’s not quite the same as a walk down the aisles and we can never really be bothered with shipping drama.

But if you really can’t live without Amelia Liana’s latest US love or Lily Pebbles’ top pick, we’ve found some brilliant alternatives that you can get right here on UK shores.

If you really want a Sephora Formula X polish…

Try the Barry M Gelly polishes which offer the same level of chip-resistant glossy shine and you can pick ’em up in Superdrug with your hairspray and deodorant.

If your skin is crying out for the Kate Sommerville Goat Milk Cream…

Then you need to pay a visit to your local Lush. Not reserved just for bath bombs and bubble bars, Lush have an extensive skincare range which preform up to the standard of some of our most high end products. The Skin’s Shangri-La moisturiser is rich in jojoba, a key ingredient in the Kate Sommerville product.

If you want to smell like Mary-Kate And Ashley…

Then you absolutely can get an alternative to their much-loved Nirvana Black but it will come at a bit of a price. The all time favourite fragrance of one Unicorns staffer, Tom Ford’s Black Orchid is as rich and smokey as it is enchanting and sexy. Like Nirvana Black, Black Orchid is equally as masculine as it is feminine. Nirvana Black has notes of vanilla and sandalwood but Mr Ford has gone for an ever-so-slightly fruiter version with plum and patchouli.

If you’re considering fly to New York for the Covergirl Lash Perfection mascara…

Just hit up its sister company, Max Factor. Like a lot of beauty brands, they’re cut from the same cloth (see also: Bourjois and Chanel and L’Oreal Paris and Urban Decay). The formula and brush of Max Factor’s Masterpiece mascara is almost identical to its Stateside sibling.

If your life is over unless you try the Sephora Cream Lip Stain…

Then hold tight because Sleek offer the best matte liquid lipsticks around for under a fiver. Shade ‘Birthday Suit’ will give you unreal Kylie Jenner lips and ‘Roija Red’ is very similar to YouTube’s beloved ‘Always Red

If you’re feeling cheeky and need a Josie Maran Cheek Gelée…

Then you don’t need to board a plane because Boots has the answer. Bourjois’ newly released Aqua Blush collection is a similar gel formula that offers buildable sheer coverage. Similar to a cream blush but nowhere near as heavy, these blushes feel quite wet but very quickly dry down and offer long-lasting colour.

If the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner is vital to your existence…

Try Alexa Chung’s favourite, Eyeko Skinny Liner, which can be picked up in Space NK and department stores. The deep black ink refuses to budge and, like the Kat Von D liner, has a felt-tip applicator which gives you a lot of control over the product.

If your lips need some TLC with the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask…

Then you should probably pick up a pot of Réve De Miel balm by Nuxe. The £9.50 pot (which lasts forever) is a thick honey scented product that is best used as an overnight treatment for the lips. Both products are soothing for even the most chapped of lips and are non-greasy.

If you really, really do need the Peter Thomas Roth Irish Moor Mud Mask…

Then you need the Una Brennan Anti-Blemish Clay Mask. The PTR masks have built up a bit of hype thanks to a recent plug from Vivianna Does MakeUp; the Irish Moor Mud Mask sets out to decongest skin  and keep your skin as purified as possible. In the UK, Una Brennan’s offering is all about tackling those pesky spots and cleansing out pores of all the crap that living in polluted towns and cities brings. Both products contain blemish busting acids and can be used twice weekly to calm oily skin.
