Anthony Padilla, one half of YouTube comedy duo and media empire Smosh, has announced that he will be leaving the channel.
Anthony and his partner Ian Hecox just broke the news in a new video on the main Smosh channel. After over a decade of making videos together on the site, Anthony will be separating from the media empire they have grown; but will be focusing on growing his own channel as an “independent creator”.
“A lot of you guys are going to assume we got in a big fight, or we hate each other,” notes Ian. ” I promise you it has nothing to do with that.”
“We’re still friends… We’ve been friends for 19 years.”

Ian plans to continue running the brand, while Anthony moves on to his independent channel.
“I’m really, really nervous,” admits Anthony. “I’m gonna be doing everything on my own now, and I feel like it’s really gonna be good for me.”
Smosh have been creating videos on YouTube since 2005, and in that time have frequently been the Most Subscribed channel on the site. Their main channel now has over 22 million subscribers and 6.5 billion total views. Their media empire has also expanded into gaming, cartoons, movies, and an ever-growing team that produces all their relevant verticals.
Anthony leaves with the full support of the Smosh team.
“It’s weird to say goodbye on video,” admits Ian. “Well, it’s real now,” adds Anthony.
We wish both Anthony and the rest of the Smosh team all the best for each of their future endeavours.
