Over the past week and a half, tributes to Christina have poured in from the YouTube community – and the rest of the world – but Friday saw one final tribute to the extremely talented singer.
The YouTuber and The Voice contestant was gunned down and killed by a “deranged fan” at a meet and greet following a show in Florida, where she had just performed. 22 year old Christina was tragically shot outside of the venue in Florida and the Internet was flooded with poignant messages to her family and loved ones when the Orlando Police Twitter account confirmed her death on Saturday 11th June.
Since then, people from all over the world have shown their love for Christina and her hometown saw hundreds of people gather to light candles and lay flowers in her honour last week. But now, following her private funeral on 16th June, one final video has been uploaded to her channel in her memory.
The tribute, titled In Loving Memory Of Christina Grimmie | March 12th, 1994 to June 10th, 2016 | We All Love You, is made up of footage from her incredible music covers and vlogs where she speaks directly to her over three million subscribers. The touching video captures the highlights of her short, but extremely successful, career to the tune of one of her most iconic covers, Jason Mraz’s “I Won’t Give Up”. The description of the video reads: ‘Christina Grimmie was taken from all of us far too soon, but the impact she had on this world in the short 22 years of her life will carry on forever.’
The video ends with one last goodbye from Christina: “You’re strong, so own it. Love, me.”
Our hearts continue to go out to Christina’s family and friends and we applaud them for creating such a heart breaking, yet poignant tribute to her.
