This is one of the strangest stories we’ve ever written, but DanTDM has just been told off by a local Fire Brigade for a “dangerous” stunt involving a blowtorch and a stuffed pink penguin toy. The YouTuber, who has nearly 14 million subscribers, was described by the fire officials as “irresponsible and thoughtless” after his video went live last week.
Dan Middleton, or DanTDM as you may already know him, is predominantly known for his hugely entertaining Minecraft videos, so his latest video was, in his words, “a little bit crazy”. The eight-minute clip then sees him researching powerful blowtorches before melting a fuzzy pink penguin down into a terrifying hell sculpture.
Here’s the video of DanTDM setting fire to a poor, innocent pink penguin toy before he realised it would get some serious heat from the London Fire Brigade.
Charlie Pugsley, the chief of the Fire Investigation Team, released the following statement regarding Dan’s latest video: “We 100% condemn this reckless behaviour and would urge the YouTube vlogger to remove the clip immediately as it may inspire ‘copycat’ incidents which may go tragically wrong”. In fact, we’ve written on the site before about what bad things can happen when viewers try to imitate YouTube stunts, which you can read RIGHT HERE.
The only warning Dan gave his subscribers was the image below, in which he tells viewers that “what happens next is dangerous” and that we should “not try this at home”. Once the warning is over, Dan proceeds to give the toy a “haircut… a haircut with fire”. He also goes on to point out that “this is a really, really dumb thing to do”, however the Fire Brigade does not think this warning was enough.
