Dodie’s latest EP has put her into the YouTube history books after entering the UK album charts at number six – making her the first unsigned YouTuber to enter the official UK album chart’s top 10.
“You,” released on 11th August, entered the charts at number six on Friday 18th August.
While some YouTubers have found success on the iTunes charts, this is the first time one has managed to chart so highly on the official UK album chart; which only takes into account sales and streams made in the UK. Her previous EP, “Intertwined” only made it to number 35 when it was released in 2016.
Her most current EP’s success is made all the more impressive by the fact that it’s only six tracks long – far shorted than albums that traditionally do well in the official UK album charts.
Dodie’s manager Joshua Edwards thanked fans for “being a part of this huge achievement for an independent artist” in a statement shared to Twitter.
“It’s because of such a dedicated audience she reached number six in the U.K Albums chart,” he wrote. While Joshua acknowledged that Dodie didn’t make it to the top five – which was her original ambition for the EP – he wrote, “6/10 ain’t bad.”

Dodie also acknowledged that she just missed the top five on Twitter – but it didn’t stop her from celebrating.
She wrote: “I was one place away, but I’m in the official top ten of the charts. Officially.”
Dodie also joked that her chart position reflected one of the songs on the EP, “6/10”: “I am quite literally a 6/10,” she tweeted.
