Dream Daddy is fast on its way to becoming the viral online game of the summer. Written by Vernon Shaw and Leighton Gray, the game is as simple as any – you explore a virtual world trying to find romance and love. But there’s a big twist: you get to find love while pretending to be a giant hunky chunk of dad meat.
With 125 million users (for context, Dream Daddy less than a month old), the game is already a proven smash hit – even Markiplier can’t get enough of it.
How does Dream Daddy Work?
First things first, you have to build your daddy. All shapes, sizes and colours are available, so you can project your wildest, most inappropriate daddy fantasies onto your fun character. Then, you have to go out into the world and find your perfect daddy partner; you get to choose from one of these absolute dreamboats.
The storyline begins with you arriving in a new town with a teenage daughter. You were recently widowed, but the allowed grieving period has passed and now you’re ready to put yourself back out there and open up to the possibility of love once more. Good for you!
Over the course of several mini games and good dialogue choices, you begin to fall in love with one of the daddies in the game. If you play your cards right, you’ll wind up with a brand new boo.
While the “Daddy” phenomenon in pop culture is somewhat untoward, Dream Daddy is a surprisingly pure game.
It’s actually a pretty cool way to talk about queer fatherhood, relationships and sex. Plus, it’s packed with all sorts of earnest little pearls of wisdom, such as:
And all the dad’s are devoted, loving fathers – just as they should be:
IT’S SO ADORABLE.
Dream Daddy’s already picked up some famous fans – including Markiplier and JackSepticEye
He’s already uploaded four play-throughs of the game, which he described as “amazing” to YouTube. As you can imagine, his daddy is as daddy – if not more daddy – as Markiplier is IRL. That’s a lot of daddy.
And here’s JackSepticEye’s daddy:
