Ed Sheeran amassed a jaw-dropping 20 million views on YouTube in just 14 hours using a pretty fool-proof strategy – putting every song from his new album on the site at once! This tactic is nothing new for smaller artists, but for a massive singer like Sheeran, it’s a pretty novel move. That being said, the rise of freely available music on services like Spotify and the fact that these songs will end up on YouTube anyway if the artist doesn’t get there first, makes this a very smart move.
You can check out every track from the new Ed Sheeran album (in order, cos we’re nice) right here:
2. Castle On The Hill
4. Shape Of You
6. Galway Girl
8. New Man
9. Hearts Don’t Break Around Here
10. What Do I Know?
11. How Would You Feel? (Paean)
12. Supermarket Flowers
14. Bibia Be Ye Ye
15. Nancy Mulligan
16. Save Myself
This isn’t the first time Ed has enjoyed huge success on YouTube; his song ‘Thinking Out Loud” has – wait for it – 1.5 billion video views, making it the 20th most viewed YouTube video in human history. All Ed needs to do now is collaborate with Psy or make an album with Adele and he’ll be on course to be number one.
