With scenes of violence, anger and “alternative facts” being played out on the news, it can be so easy to lose focus on what incredible things America has achieved over the past decade. Many of us fight to make sure our voices are heard, and make sure no gender, sexuality or race is left marginalised; and through this, we realise just how much work has already been done. But now, many of us are left fearing President Trump will reverse a lot of the good work that Obama has introduced.
Whilst we can’t predict the future, one thing we can do is look at what Obama achieved over the past eight years; and realise and honour what an incredible President he was. From legalising gay marriage, to passing an act against hate crimes, Obama was a shining light for the LGBTQ+ community; which is why Ellen Degeneres and a whole host of famous faces have joined together to thank the man who changed so much.
Evan Rachel Wood, Jim Parsons and Sia are amongst the celebrities who pay a moving tribute. Be warned- you will cry.
