Emoji Movie Has 0% On Rotten Tomatoes

By Benedict Townsend

“dismaying”

The reviews for The Emoji Movie are out and ... hooboy, things have not gone well. The movie, which no one seemingly wanted or was excited for and which has been ruthlessly skewered by people across the internet, has earned itself a rare zero percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. If you are unfamiliar with the site, Rotten Tomatoes compiles reviews from across the world and works out an aggregate score. To receive a zero means literally every reviewer hated it. Ouch. For context, compare it to how other summer films have fared with the critics:

More reviews are on their way, so there's a chance the film's score may rise, but judging by some of the review quotes we've put together here ... it doesn't seem likely. Here are some of the most hilariously harsh extracts from the reviews for whatever the hell this blur of lights and sounds is meant to be:

1. We never thought we'd miss 2016 screen-shot-2017-07-28-at-10-39-07

Other movies that have achieved the coveted zero percent rating include: Space Chimps 2: Zartog Strikes Back, Beer for My Horses, and a bunch of other films you've never heard of because - and we really want to emphasise this - it's actually very difficult to get a pure zero on Rotten Tomatoes.

Still no word yet on how Emoji Movie superfan Jacksfilms is handling the bad news. For the full reviews of the film, if you can even call it that at this point, click here to head over to Rotten Tomatoes.

UPDATE: The movie is now on 8%! Maybe if we wait a little bit longer this film could end up being the best-reviewed movie of all time?! We'll just have to wait and see!
