It’s no secret that YouTubers are massively inspirational when it comes to charity organisations, fundraising attempts and generally being good-hearted individuals. Well now YouTube itself is helping these creators by implementing a new feature – the Donation Card!
The new card-like annotation allows viewers to donate to any nonprofit organisation the YouTube creator chooses without them leaving their YouTube browser. What’s even more amazing is that your donation will go directly to the charity instead of being shared amongst other suppliers. You can see examples of these donation cards in place within videos by John Green and Madison Beer.
We’ve supplied a step-by-step instruction guide below so you can spot what to do if you choose to donate!
- Whenever a YouTuber discusses charities or fundraising appeals, you will now be given the opportunity to directly donate during the video. Simply click the ‘I’ button you can see in the top right corner.
- A fancy new menu will now have swished into the video showing off the new Donation card (Seen here for Project For Awesome 2015). From here you can click ‘Donate Now’ to get to the good stuff. NOTE: None of this will pause or otherwise affect your video.
- From here you will get a pop-up in front of the original video that gives you the option to finally donate. It lists a bunch of generic amounts of donation amounts or you can very easily type in an amount more tailored to your budget! Hit ‘Next’ and it will take you through the payment process.
