If you happen to live somewhere on the planet, and have an amazing idea to change the world that needs funding: FunForLouis is looking for you.
Louis Cole, best known for his stunning travel vlogs, is currently putting his jet-setting influence to good use. With the help of fellow traveller and entrepreneur Dave Erasmus, the duo are currently in the middle of a 30-day world tour known as the Solvey Project.
The premise of the project is simple but important – Louis and Dave are seeking out social entrepreneurs who may have a pitch for an idea that they hope will “start a compassionate problem-solving revolution around the world”. The Solvey Project will fund seven of the pitches they are given on their trip, each for a minimum of $1,000.
“The US and UK are always invited to the party,” Dave Erasmus tells Forbes. “We wanted to go where the largest populations of the world are, places that are sometimes are not invited or the focus of these competitions.”
The tour started in Ethiopia at the beginning of this month, and will end soon in Iceland. In that time, Louis and Dave have visited Dubai, Delhi, Shanghai, Seoul and Tokyo – and have met with many budding entrepreneurs hoping to improve the world with their ideas.
“I just spent an hour with a guy who had flown in from Mumbai to share his idea with us,” explains Dave, who has been the mastermind of other projects such as fundraising website Givey. “His pitch was long and cumbersome. But he had a game-changing idea. So, I told him, mate, you just got to simplify this a bit.”
“But if we can help more people like that, then I think this has been a successful mission.”
