Before we even begin this story, we obviously need to point out that the next 400 words are going to be full of spoilers and you’re only annoying yourself by reading it – don’t say we haven’t warned you. But back to the matter at hand, in last night’s episode of Game of Thrones (season six, episode eight, if you’re reading this article later down the line) a YouTuber was given quite a prominent, if not short role in one of the most popular TV shows on the entire planet.
Viral impressionist Steve Love, whose Game of Thrones videos have millions of views thanks to his spot on character mimics, starred in the very first scene of the most recent episode, entitled ‘No One’. After his impressions caught the attention of David Benioff and D.B Weiss, the show’s co-creators, Steve was given a fans dream opportunity to open the show… and obviously he died. In fact, the very end of episode seven led up to Steve’s death, as can be seen in the tweet below, where Sandor ‘The Hound’ Clegane is seen picking up an axe and strutting off on a revenge mission…
In the opening scene of this weeks Game of Thrones, Steve plays a scared young solider, resting with three other men under a canopy. His character suffers from an embarrassing practical joke at the hands of his fellow men when suddenly the Hound appears out of no where and, well, cuts his head clean off. The scene has since been uploaded to YouTube and can be watched right HERE, but we can’t promise that it will be up for very long judging on how strict HBO are with copyright infringements.
Based on the cruel manner in which his character met with fate, we can pretty much guarantee that Steve will not be returning for any later episodes in the series, however we have to admit how freaking cool it was to see a YouTuber make it into our favourite TV show. If you’re interested in seeing his impressions, we’ve shared his most popular video, and we’d love to know what other YouTubers you’d love to see on TV! Let us know in the comments below.
