“I know a lot of you are going to think that I’m joking… I’m not”.

Back in 2010, 19-year-old Mitchell Kittrell went viral after attacking the creators of South Park for perpetuating the stereotype that “gingers” do not have souls. The heated video, which currently has 40 million views, forced Michael into the public eye. But now, six years later, a video has been posted to the CopperCab YouTube channel announcing a new direction for the viral star.

Now living as Claire Kittrell, the 23-year-old has posted her “final” video to YouTube announcing that she is currently undergoing hormone replacement therapy in her plans to transition from male to female; “I’m not going to live another year pretending to be someone else”. The emotional 10-minute video sees Claire sharing her experiences about growing up in a “pretty conservative” school and never fitting in with the other children.

Unfortunately, whilst Claire has only uploaded this video because she finally feels comfortable in her skin, she is already preempting some amount of trolling on her video based on her appearance and previous viral fame; “I know a lot of you are going to make fun of me. I know a lot of you are going to think that I’m joking. This is the hardest video I’ve ever made, because I’m not”.

Even though hormone therapy takes 1-2 years to see visible changes, Claire talks intimately about the required surgical changes to her body in addition to thanking Caitlyn Jenner for inspiring her new courage; “Caitlyn Jenner… has a lot of money and not every trans person is able to look like her because she can afford surgery. I’m not able to afford it and that’s OK”. We wish you all the luck in the world with your transition Claire!
