Here’s some great news: everyone’s favourite drunk chef Hannah Hart has signed on to be a part of a Hollywood romantic comedy – but not just any romantic comedy… an ‘LGBTQ romantic comedy’.
Hannah Hart signed a dream deal with movie giant Lionsgate, which will see Hannah producing and starring in a series of films, with this romantic comedy (which does not yet have a name) being the first. This isn’t the first time Lionsgate has worked with a creator either, nor Hannah herself.
They arranged a similar movie deal with fellow YouTuber and Hannah’s best-good-pal Grace Helbig at the end of last year. It was also Lionsgate that bought the rights to the Trinity’s movie ‘Dirty 30’, so god bless them for that!
In a statement, Hannah said: “I’m extremely pleased to be partnering with [Lionsgate] as I continue my journey into film. My hope in working together is to bring more inclusivity and diversity into storytelling overall.” Jordan Gilbert, Lionsgate’s Vice President of digital production, said this of the project: “Having worked with Hannah on several successful projects, we know that her distinctive worldview, comedic timing and dedication to fresh content is what makes her an impressive writer, producer, and star.”
We’re hyped that Hollywood is looking finally looking to properly expand the boundaries of its storytelling to include LGBTQ stories – especially when the movie also features one of our YouTube faves! We can’t wait to see this film and when we have more info on it, we’ll be sure to let you know.
