Jake Paul has admitted that the “relationship” between him and fellow Team 10 member Erika Costell is a complete fabrication.
Jake made the
shocking revelation during an interview with The New York Times. “We’re not even actually dating,” he told them. “It’s like the WWE. People know that’s fake, and it’s one of the biggest things in entertainment.”
But do people really know Jake Paul and Erika Costell’s relationship is fake?
A lot of people had their suspicions about Jake and Erika. However, many fans have been – and somehow still are – sincerely invested in this “relationship”.
Jake also revealed that a lot of his social media personality is constructed too.
Revealing that he’s more “reserved” in real live, Jake explained that the language he uses on YouTube is designed to connect with his young audience. “Literally, by saying the word ‘bro’ I do try to come off like a high school kid having fun,” he says. “What would a junior in high school say? What would their slang be? They use the word ‘savage,’ they use the word ‘lit.’ That isn’t my personal vocabulary. But it comes out on camera.”
So what exactly is real about Jake Paul?
Even if the relationship and the personality is fraudulent, one thing that doesn’t lie is the numbers. Jake and Erika’s phone relationship has generated millions of views, while the obnoxious high-schooler personality he’s build for himself has earned him legions of fans to watch his videos, buy his music, and wear his merch. All of that is money in the bank for Jake, who claimed his personal goal was “to become a billionaire.”
