Jake Paul has announced his departure from the Disney Channel; following days of controversy between the Team 10 household and their neighbours.
Disney released a statement on 22nd July saying that his departure from the Disney Channel series “Bizaardvark” after 18 months on the show was “mutually agreed”.
“On behalf of the production company, the cast and crew, we thank Jake for his good work on the TV series,” Disney said. Jake is set to leave the show during the middle of season 2. He played Dirk on the show, a prankster who uploads videos to social video site Vuuugle (sound familiar?).
Jake confirmed that he was leaving Bizaardvark on Twitter.
Explaining that he wants to focus on his “personal brand” as well as “growing Team 10” and “working on more adult acting roles,” he wrote: “Long story short… my team, Disney Channel, and I have come to the agreement its finally time for me to move on from the Disney family and Bizaardvark.”
“We have big things in the works and I can’t wait to share it all with you,” he promised fans.
Was Jake Paul fired following complaints from neighbours?
Earlier this week, Jake hit headlines after several neighbours accused him of turning their neighbourhood into a “war-zone”, with constant pranking and partying; and for allowing his young fans to congregate and cause a disturbance outside his house. One neighbour revealed that the community had sought legal advice; and would be willing to take things as far as legal action if Jake and the rest of the Team 10 household continue to cause a nuisance. The timing of Jake’s Disney departure has led many to question if recent negative press got Jake Paul fired from Disney.
Disney have declined to comment on why Jake is leaving the show.
