“I love and accept myself to the point where I can finally talk about this.”

Canadian YouTuber Jeydon Wale is best known for his vlogs, original music and gaming videos, but he uploaded a much more personal video to his channel this week. In this latest video, he’s very upfront about the subject matter he wants to address; “Hi, my name is Jeydon Wale and I’m a female-to-male transgender“.

In this very honest video, Jeydon explains how his nine years on YouTube have truly allowed him to be himself, and how grateful he is to his 850,000+ subscribers for their support and friendship. He also vowed to continue his usual content, but promised to make more videos about his experiences in order to help other people going through the transition; “I just want you to know that it’s okay to be yourself; it’s okay to be different. And your body does not define you,” he said.

Watch the full video below. Jeydon – we salute your honesty and bravery.

Wales isn’t the only YouTuber to have come out as transgender as this year, as popular creators such as Mitchell Kittrell, Brendon Jordan and Sam Collins have all opened up about their identity to a community of accepting and supportive fans. Here at We The Unicorns, we whole-heartedly believe that YouTube has opened up massive windows of opportunity for people exploring the LGBTQ+ spectrum… especially in 2016.
