We didn’t see this coming…

Louise Pentland uploaded a video yesterday that will go down in YouTube history. On the evening of Thursday 1st September, Louise AKA Sprinkle of Glitter posted an announcement video, entitled ‘Finishing with Sprinkle of Glitter’ – and it really took us all by surprise.

Alongside the video, Louise had also written a blog post to reveal the news that her channel ‘Sprinkle of Glitter’ will be no more. The 31 year old woman used both platforms to explain that a lot has changed since she first created her ‘Sprinkle of Glitter’ persona and that she’d now like to “be able to have adult conversations, aimed at adults” on her channel.

She explained in the blog post how Sprinkle of Glitter is something she created almost seven years ago, when she was just 24, and that she has grown a lot as a person since then. Louise explained: “I’ve had knocks and scrapes and growth and life. I’m different. I’m still me, but I’m an older (maybe wiser?) me.”

She continues to explain that she still wants to make videos but on the things she wants to – without holding back. Louise added: “I’ve kept things sweet and nice and plodded along reasonably unscathed by the dreaded trolls and haters. I’ve played it safe. I’ve stayed inside my box.”

Since the announcement last night, the YouTube community have come out in full force to support Louise for her brave decision:

But don’t worry, we’re only saying goodbye to Sprinkle of Glitter; Louise will still be uploading videos, but just for a more adult audience. She stated: “My sense of humour is dirty and my life is adult…I need to shed this sugary sweet sparkles and unicorns thing and just say, ‘hey, my name is Louise Pentland. I’m a nice gal, doing my best, dating, mumming, enjoying myself, let’s share and talk and enjoy’.”

We shall be sad to see ‘Aloha Sprinklerinos’ go, but we are proud of Louise for allowing her channel to grow with her. Let us know what you think in the comments and in the meantime, check out our latest episode of SLAY or NAY to catch up with all of this weeks YouTube news.
