We’re finally at the dreaded stage of summer break when exam results start to wing their way towards us – and a lot of YouTube fans will find a lot of their faves posting well-meaning Tweets or videos about how much “exam results don’t matter”, etc. But qualified teacher and YouTube star Melanie Murphy has some better advice.
In a new storytime vlog between the arrival of A-levels, GSCEs and various other school qualifications, Melanie shares her own education and career experience: from dreaming of being an author, to her struggles with her final results, to the hustle that finally earned her a degree.
“Being a teenager is hard enough, let alone having such a huge decision weighing on your shoulders,” admits Melanie. “It causes a lot of people to just break down and hide under a pillow”.
One of the key takeaways of the video is the idea that the grades you receive in school don’t always reflect your actual intelligence – or as Melanie reveals, you could fit better within Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences. Here, she has broken it down for you below:
