So the world always need a little bit of extra #GirlLove; and you can usually depend on IISuperwomanII to deliver it. But Lilly Singh has gone one farther with the latest project she has joined – ‘Glamour’ and GirlGaze’s #NewView film competition.
#NewView is aimed at encouraging more young women to get into filmmaking.
“Because we are committed to supporting female filmmakers…’Glamour’ and Girlgaze have joined forces to launch a film competition to provide young female filmmakers with the thing they most want: the chance to work,” reads the website’s statement.
Apparently only 11 of the 500 top-grossing films were directed by women; but with the help of a large, diverse group of ladies from various positions in the film industry, you can help to shift that balance. And all you have to do is submit a 3-5 minute short film that “showcases your point of view” for a chance to win $3,000; also, a potential directorial gig with ‘Glamour’.
Attention any female filmmakers! I’m thrilled to support @glamourmag and @girlgazeproject’s #NewView film competition! To enter, aspiring filmmakers should submit a 3-5 minute short film that showcases a unique perspective—on an issue, on their own life, or on our culture. You know I’m all about it!! And I’m super excited to be a judge alongside a gang of other epic women! #Girlgaze #PoweredByWomen #GirlLove (enter here: https://www.newviewfilm.com)
Lilly Singh joins a panel of over 25 women that will judge each entry.
The star-studded line-up of judges will decide if your submission is one of the top five to take home the prize; but as with everything, you’ve got to be in it to win it.
