We’ve seen every single contour tutorial and face swap challenge in the world to be honest – it literally comes with the territory of this job that you have to watch everything that gets uploaded to YouTube. So it was the most inspirational and uplifting moment when Unicorns HQ found Nikki Lily today, as this 11 year-old beauty vlogger is the most incredible lady we’ve ever seen.

Embracing her uniqueness and uploading beauty and makeup tutorials, Nikki Christou has AVM (Arteriovenous Malformation), a rare and severe facial disfigurement that causes intense pains, life-threatening nose bleeds and a craniofacial form on the right hand side of her face. Since her seventh birthday, Nikki has had 20 major operations and more than 300 hospital visits for her health condition, and yet all we can see is a happy and beautiful young woman with a passion for YouTube and the Internet.

Nikki Lily started her YouTube channel at the age of eight, and now has over 2 million views on her beauty channel. In addition to this, Nikki and her family have raised over £55,000 for their charity AVM Butterfly which was set up to raise money for her treatment. Talking about her disease, Nikki says that coming to terms with her diagnosis was the hardest part for the 6-year-old; “When I was seven I realised I’m going to be needing operations, treatments, having to quit clubs, not being able to do much stuff and being a bit home-schooled. It was quite scary, I did feel sorry for myself at first but then I realised there are so many things I can do”. And boy has she!

In 2013, Nikki Lily was presented with the WellChild Bravery award by Prince Harry after her paediatric nurse at Great Ormond Street Hospital nominated her. With over 35,000 subscribers and a positive outlook on her life, Nikki has some words that every single person on this planet needs to listen, understand and remember on a daily basis; “If you believe in yourself, really try hard and block out all the negativity in your life, you will lead a happy life”.

Thank you Nikki – we appreciate and respect every single thing you do on YouTube and we’re so happy you’re part of #TeamInternet! Love, Team Unicorns x
