We’ve all come to understand how the rewards systems on YouTube work now. With the three tiers of play button well established in the YouTube community, creators have been driving towards silver, gold and diamond accolades for years now… but it looks like a fourth button has come in to play. Sent to PewDiePie for reaching a staggering 50 million subscribers, creators can now look forward to getting their very own, personalised ruby play button!
The huge gift, which was hand delivered from New York City to Felix’s front door in Brighton, contained what looks to be the heaviest man-made object on the planet. The ruby button itself, which was lovingly crafted into the shape of a Brofist, came wrapped in about 10 million layers of bubble wrap and eight little baby Brofist’s that Felix wants to send to seven of his “longest lasting subscribers, that are still active” – and one for all you guys! All you gotta do is leave a nice comment on the video below.
Even though Felix has used his voice in recent months to “sh*t on YouTube”, the sincerity of his appreciation really comes through as he unboxes his new ruby play button; “YouTube really has given me everything… This has been an incredible journey that I will never forget… This is not just for me”. Oh, and before you think Felix has turned over a new, less-trolly leaf, don’t worry because he immediately moves away from his new ruby red BFF to flush the diamond button down the toilet. Classy.
And just in case you think that Felix is happy about getting the biggest reward possible for his amazing achievements on YouTube, you may wanna hold your applause. It looks like PewDiePie might not be holding onto his ruby play button for much longer… But we’ll talk about that some other time.
