It’s not news that most of our favourite artists once began singing their hearts out on YouTube; from Justin Bieber to Carly Rae Jepsen and of course our fave smol bean Troye Sivan – they’ve all found fame in the mainstream media. However, the latest artist to come out of the huge pool of YouTube musicians is singer/songwriter Shawn Mendes – and he has just been given his first ever Vogue magazine cover.
That’s right, the Canadian, who established himself on the video sharing platform, has revealed the shots from his photo shoot with L’Uomo Vogue (the men’s version of the magazine in Italy) and we don’t think we can handle the fire.
The cover shoot comes just weeks after the 18 year old’s new album release ‘Illuminate’ which has already received the first spot in the Official Album Chart, following in the footsteps of his debut album ‘Handwritten’. The musician appeared suited and booted (and occasionally topless) for his issue of the magazine which will be out soon for us all to enjoy/ definitely cry over.
Even though the singer has moved on from his YouTube days, he still has a huge online presence. Mendes, who also made a name for himself on Vine, has over 14 million followers on Instagram and almost 8 million followers on Twitter – and they were all also pretty excited about his most recent photo shoot. His fans took to Twitter using the hashtag #ShawnLuomoVogue to express their thirst.
The newly found cover star speaks about everything from music to girls in the October issue of the magazine, so we can’t wait get it hot off the press soon.
