So it always helps to know which digital platforms your favourite creators and influencers are using; but it’s also important to know when it’s time to jump ship from certain social media or apps. And if a recent survey is anything to go by, things aren’t looking great for the future of Snapchat.
A new survey from Adweek has revealed that out of all social media platforms, influencers are most likely to drop Snapchat.
Around 600 creators and influencers were interviewed by Adweek about their app-using habits and preferences. Amongst every platform they use, more than half of them had an active YouTube channel; while less than a third had gotten on the Snapchat hype train at all.
But nearly 70% of them admitted to putting one social platform on hold in order to grow and expand the others. And the bad news? Out of every app to consider, including YouTube, Instagram and even Pinterest, 46% admitted that Snapchat would be the first to go.
Snapchat has been struggling to hold on to its original popularity recently; reporting a 22% decrease of downloads in recent months. Not even the launch of Snap’s companion accessory Spectacles has been enough to boost the company’s profits; and with Facebook and Instagram currently beating them at every turn, innovation hasn’t exactly been a priority.
Can Snapchat survive the ongoing competition? Time will tell; but to be honest, we could all probably do with one less app to keep updated.
