#StandUpWithYT has been trending on social media for weeks, and rightly so. The annual charity event to help raise as much money for cancer research embraced all things YouTube this year and everyone who was everyone did something for the event. From Louise Pentland hosting a tea dance or Doug Armstrong walking the streets in just his pants for hours on end, creators and fans alike really got behind the charity and helped make an incredible differene.
Saturday 15th October saw #StandUpWithYT take centre stage in a four hour live stream featuring basically every YouTuber on the planet and then some. Louis Cole, Jim Chapman, Dan and Phil, Zoe London, Gary C, Caspar Lee, Toby Randall, Joe Sugg, Em Ford, Katie Snooks, Scola Dondo… it’s safe to say the live stream was lit. Over 100 YouTubers took part in the livestream which rounded off 1000 hours of fundraising by creators.
And we can reveal that you lot helped raise an astonishing £187, 571!
Speaking about the #StandUpWithYT livestream, smol bean Dan Howell said: “It was an immense four hours and it’s been incredible to get together with all these talented and passionate creators to raise money for vital research. We are grateful to all of the fans for raising so much money for Stand Up To Cancer to help kick cancers butt!”
Phil added: “We are just so glad to have been part of such an epic event to raise money for research that will save lives! 1 in 2 of us will be diagnosed with cancer in our lifetime, and the money we raise now will fund the heroic scientists who are working so hard every day to beat cancer.”
