Suli Breaks has been quietly brewing a storm on the internet with his eloquent and progressive spoken word — and now he’s taking it to the stages of London.
This week, Suli announced Not A Role Model, a live performance that he hopes will be his “greatest show yet”. Taking place on the 25th August at the Rock Tower in Tufnell Park, Suli promises a night of exclusive material, which will reportedly be a mix of live poetry, music, and video content.
Given that spoken word or poetry aren’t exactly the most prominent or lucrative genres on YouTube, Suli has had some remarkable success in using the medium to share some thought-provoking ideas. He describes the live show as “the next step in [his] challenge”; and it’s evident that it has been in the wors for some time. Prior to the announcement of the show, Suli has been teasing the Not A Role Model moniker on social media for a few months.
Tickets to Suli Breaks’ one-night show are available on Eventbrite now. If you want a taster of what to expect, you can watch this incredible performance he gave at Buffer Festival’s gala event in 2015, where he turns the story of YouTube to a “drunken night between TV and Internet”…
