Have you ever wondered if there’s a special social media platform that YouTubers use to talk to each other away from fans? Like, do they all have secret Facebook accounts or do they have to shout through their @’s on Twitter to have a conversation? Either way, YouTube creators deserve to have their own social network in order to chat about work, and here comes a brand new app made just for them…
Launching on June 16th, YouCollab is an upcoming app dedicated to giving creators a simple and easy-to-use way to find other YouTubers near by, so they can meet up and make collab videos with no hassle at all. I mean, how amazing does that sound?! Described as “the Tinder for YouTubers”, creators will be able to input their location, subscriber range and channel info to match up with potential collaborators, which they can then choose to “pass” or “collab”.
As well as being able to find YouTubers in the nearby area to work with, each YouCollab app user is given their own personalised QR code which will help them to connect with contacts they meet IRL at conventions, meet-ups, etc. One of the creators that has been using the app so far, Essence Cartoon, left this testimonial on the official YouCollab website; “YouCollab saves me hours of labour that I don’t have to pay someone to do. It’s free, it works great with no glitches, and saves me time. YouCollab is an app that is going to change the way creators collaborate with other creators”.
The app, which is currently open for a free beta if you sign up right HERE, will be launching in the following cities with the hopes of expanding further afield should the demand come through for it: Atlanta, Toronto, Orlando, Columbus, London, Dallas, Miami, Edmonton, Solana Beach, Pittsburgh. So the next time you meet Zoella or Shane Dawson at VidCon, ask them for their YouCollab code and see if you can bag a cheeky collab video with them!
Want to find out what else YouTubers have been up to over the last seven days? Check out our weekly SLAY or NAY series in which we sit you down, give you a coffee and calmly talk you through all the YouTube news and gossip from the last seven days. I also have to legally point out that we can’t supply everyone with coffee, it’s just not possible.
