Only days after April Fletcher posted her moving recollection of emotional, sexual and physical abuse allegedly perpetrated by Toby Turner, a.k.a Tobuscus on YouTube, he has finally responded with a video of his own – titled ‘The Truth’. The video, 1.01 minutes long, sees a very tired and emotional Toby address the allegations made of his behaviour with up to five different women over the past few years. Below is the entire transcript.
“A person I dated a few years ago, has just made some extremely serious false accusations about me. And I wanna be crystal clear. I have never done anything without her consent. I’ve never tried to trick her into anything. I read her Tumblr post and I was shocked and I was hurt. These allegations are absolutely false and I just wanted to address it. It’s all.”
Since the video was uploaded, people have continued a heated debate about whether the accusations are true or not, with many people focusing on April’s choice of Tumblr posting as a reason to doubt the truth behind her words. Melanie Murphy has recently stated that she has recorded a video with her experience and thoughts but has not yet posted it. However, since Toby’s ‘Truth’ has been uploaded, she has posted the following tweet:
Melanie Murphy just uploaded her video, ‘Sexual Consent & My Time With Toby’. She raises some critical points about “mob mentality” and how we “should not sharpen our pitchforks against a person before they have been convicted of a crime and there has been absolute solid proof”, in addition to clarifying what people had been asking her; “I was never abused, raped, or had drugs forced against me”. Melanie explains more about the Toby she got to know during their relationship in late 2015; “He’s not someone who takes pleasure in hurting people” and that “anytime I was uncomfortable with something, he would respect that”.
Whilst Melanie respects other recollections of Toby’s relationships in her video, she points out that now both sides of the story have come forward it’s the place of the Courts and the Law to determine the truth, and people on the Internet need to stop attacking alleged victims such as April and Jaclyn for telling their own personal experience with Toby.
We’ll update this story as more information comes out.
