For the last 16 years, the voices of teenage fans have been heard by FOX in their annual and hugely successful Teen Choice Awards, and now they’re officially back for 2016 with some amazing new categories. Announced on their website overnight, fans from across the globe can now jump on any social media platform of their choice and make sure that their favourite YouTuber, Musician, Actress and more are recognised for their extraordinary talents.
With categories spanning the usual awards such as Movies (action/sci-fi, etc), TV (villain, breakout, scene-stealer, etc), Music (song, country, break-up, etc), Fashion (hottie, style, etc), Sports (team, athlete, etc) and Other (comedian, dancer, model, selfie taker, etc), for the 2016 edition of the Teen Choice Awards, a whole new category has been made for something we’re obsessed with on this website – DIGITAL! Instead of sticking our Internet friends in a category right at the back, they’re now getting all the attention they deserve with 13 amazing categories that we’re getting dizzy over.
On the official Teen Choice website, you can find out more information about how to vote for your faves, but here’s the TL:DR version just in case; “Nominate your faves on Twitter using the hashtags followed by your nominee”. The categories up for grabs are as follows (to use them to nominate, just turn the full category name into a hashtag, such as #ChoiceFemaleWebStar):
- Choice Web Star: Female
- Choice Web Star: Male
- Choice Web Star: Comedy
- Choice Web Star: Music
- Choice Web Star: Fashion/Beauty
- Social Media King
- Social Media Queen
- Choice Twit
- Choice Viner
- Choice Instagrammer
- Choice Snapchatter
- Choice YouTuber
- Choice Fandom
The award show will be aired on Sunday the 31st of July at 8/7c totally live on FOX, so if you want to be a part of an annual celebration that last year saw over 25 million votes, then get onto social media now and start nominating! Last year, big Internet winners were Bethany Mota, Cameron Dallas, Colleen Ballinger, Shawn Mendes, Zoella, Kian Lawley and #ChoiceTwit went to Taylor Swift – will they win it all over again in 2016? You have the power to make it happen.
Back for 2016, fans can also vote for which surfboard they want to see handed out to this years winners. By heading over to the official Teen Choice website, you can select from one of the above colourful options. FYI, these surfboards cost $800 EACH to make and every single winner will get one… absolutely crazy.
