Already this year we’ve seen some of our favourite YouTubers hit some seriously significant milestones; Zoella reached 10 million, Alfie Deyes just hit 3 million on his vlog channel and even Oli White is smashing it with 2 million subscribers. But we’re now proud to add to the list of ‘MLG ‘Tubers of 2016’ Mr Tyler Oakley and his 8 million strong YouTube army.
Tyler reached this crazy subscriber milestone on Sunday the 27th of February and celebrated by posting all over Twitter that “our fam” is now bigger than Israel, Bulgaria, Hong Kong and Denmark. He may have a long way to go in order to catch up with YouTube Overlord Felix Kjellberg, but for a simple Michigan boy who wanted to upload videos to YouTube to chat with his friends whilst at University back in 2007, he’s come such an impressive distance to get where he is today.
2015 was an incredible year for Mr Oakley with his first autobiography Binge being released and becoming a Best-Seller overnight. Following this, Tyler embarked on another Slumber Party Tour across the entire globe, bringing along with him a camera crew that would eventually turn into his highly successful documentary, Snervous. Is there anything else left for him to do?!
Apparently there is, as in 2016 alone Tyler has won an award for the Most Eligible Bachelor for Out Magazine, he’s running his own Summer Camp with Bethany Mota and Connor Franta, and he just finished hosting the Oscar’s Red Carpet for Vanity Fair Magazine. Whoa, juggling all of these crazy milestones plus maintaining an impressive subscriber count surely proves that Tyler is one of the most dedicated and inspirational YouTubers we’ve ever seen?! We certainly think so.
To celebrate Tyler’s 8 million record, we’ve decided to go back in time and binge (ehehe) watch all of our favourite Oakley uploads, including the painfully funny Photobooth Challenge with Miranda Sings – which coincidently is Tyler’s most popular upload with over 10 million views.
