We’re crazy excited to see if Joe scoops up the prize!

YouTubers are being nominated for awards pretty much every single day of the week at the moment; be it Glamour Beauty, Grammy’s or the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards. But, Joe Sugg and one of his special projects has just been nominated for the potentially the most significant award of the entire year – The Children’s Book of the Year for Username: Evie.

The award is presented by the British Book Industry and Joe is up against some really heavy competition – I mean, we’ve all heard of J.K Rowling right?! On the chair of judges is Cathy Rentzenbrink, who said that the awards showcase the “glorious way that publishing continually shifts and reinvents itself” which is certainly clear in the last few years with thousands (okay, like 20) YouTuber-penned books being released. Below you can see the whole Children’s Book of the Year category with little old Joe Sugg and his graphic novel Username: Evie sitting snuggly at the bottom.

Username: Evie

The awards will be hosted by The Bookseller on the 9th of May in the Grosvenor House, London. You can still buy tickets to attend the ceremony but you’ll have to move quickly as they’re selling out fast. Fiona Noble, from The Bookseller, said that “Children’s and YA books have created some of the biggest publishing stories of 2015 and this shortlist really showcases that, from the Costa Prize to YouTubers, and huge bestsellers to heritage publishing reimagined on a grand scale”.

As well as Joe being nominated for author of Username: Evie, the awards also honour the “illustrators of the books” and “the entire team managing publicity and sales behind the scenes too”. So a win for Joe would also spell incredible things for people BTS in the publishing industry for all the hard work they have to do to get our beloved books safely onto our bookshelves.

Unfortunately there’s no way for us Sugglet’s to help support Username: Evie into the winners circle as the awards are decided by an in-house panel of judges. So instead let’s throwback to the ground-breaking vlog when Joe announced that the graphic novel was finally finished!
