Here’s how she broke the news…

It’s been long speculated that Gabriella Lindley, AKA VelvetGh0st, has been on the verge of coming out but over the weekend the YouTube star and close friend of Zoella finally spoke out about her sexuality. Following in the footsteps of fellow YouTuber Dodie Clark, Gabbie took to social media to finally reveal that she is attracted to both men and women. However, unlike Dodie, Gabbie didn’t make a video about the issue and preferred just to casually tweet about it with screengrabs of support from both her dad and brother.

It’s been an incredibly busy 2016 for Gabriella so far, having revealed all about her dramatic weight loss in a video uploaded back in April. Despite hinting that she’d lost an amazing eight stone through healthy eating and exercise, Gabbie had actually had a series of weight loss surgeries which included having a gastric sleeve, an op which saw a surgeon cut out a large part of her stomach and sew the rest back together, something which now means Gabbie can only eat very small portions of food.

Gabriella claimed that the surgery saved her life and she later went on to have another five operations including liposuction and a breast uplift.  In May, Gabbie also had lip fillers after finally taking the plunge- and we think she looks awesome! For Gabbie, finally opening up about her sexuality to her audience comes at a time when her confidence is no doubt at its peak and the warm wishes from fans will clearly give her an extra boost.

Gabbie started her series of “coming out” tweets with the following: “I wanna date someone who actually gives a shit about me and not 90 other girls, that would be nice”. Gabbie later confirmed to a fan that this wasn’t a general tweet but an indirect towards someone specific. Gabbie also shared some emotional texts from her brother and her father who left her mother to be in a relationship with another man.

Fans inundated the star, who is heading towards 900,000 subscribers on YouTube, with support and congratulations messages:

We’re so happy for Gabbie and incredibly proud. Congrats!
