So thanks to Warner Bros, it seems as though we’re never in short supply of new ‘Harry Potter’ content. First it’s Pottermore, then it’s ‘Cursed Child’; then it’s reportedly five (5) upcoming ‘Fantastic Beasts’ movies. But the news that a Voldemort origin movie is coming up blew our tiny little minds; especially with the realisation that it’s a fan-made production.
‘Voldemort: Origins Of The Heir’ is an independently-made movie set in the Harry Potter universe.
Tryangle Productions are currently shooting the feature-length prequel. It tells the story of Tom Riddle’s journey after leaving Hogwarts, and before his rise to power as Lord Voldemort. It also features a new and exciting non-canonical character; Grisha McLaggen, heir of Godric Gryffindor, who is tasked with hunting Riddle down.
Until recently, the film was raising funds via Kickstarter; until Warner Bros stepped in and put their foot down. However, after working out a deal with WB, the filmmakers are thankfully able to carry on with production; as long as it’s not earning a profit. Charming. Just as well they worked it out though; the teaser trailer has over 2 million views after just a few days. People really want to see this movie.
