So we all know, despite them openly denying it, that YouTube has a sub box problem; and all the cases of people being randomly unsubscribed from their favourite channels is the most frustrating part. Creators are constantly sharing examples of involuntarily unsubscribing from their fans; but as long as YouTube refuses to publicly acknowledge the problem, a fix probably isn’t coming any time soon.
A third-party website called Subscribe Plus has been developed by the team behind popular stat site VidStatsX to “fix” the problem; or at least let you know when it happens. The intent is that if you unsubscribe from any channels, Subscribe Plus will automatically send you an email to check whether or not you meant to.
“We’ve been working to understand the cause of what some top YouTubers allege to be involuntary YouTube unsubscribes; and in the process developed this tool to solve the problem,” the team behind the site explain. “We’ll let you know with an email … if we notice you unsubscribe from any channels.”
Signing up with your YouTube account will allow Subscribe Plus to keep an eye on your channel; but don’t worry, they only get “read-only” access. If you are involuntarily unsubscribed from a YouTuber, clicking “No” in the email sent to you will trigger an automatic resubscribe.
We know we’ll definitely be testing it out over the next little while; at least until YouTube sorts themselves out…
