Online stars Marcus Butler, Lele Pons and Juanpa Zurita all walked the catwalk as part of Dolce and Gabbana‘s Fall 2017 show in Milan. Austin Mahone, who made his name online, also provided musical accompaniment to the show which saw the likes of Marcus walking down the catwalk along with his girlfriend, the German model Stefanie Giesinger.
The show was intended to feature unconventional models from non-standard sources, and so over the course of the night the catwalk was walked not by professional models, but by social media stars and celebrities kids (among others). This is not the first time D&G have done this; their Fall 2017 show in January was similarly made up of online stars. The reaction to the Milan show from the fashion world was mixed to say the least, but that was always going to happen with a show that didn’t feature professionally trained models.
Here’s Marcus and Stefanie in action, because #relationshipgoals.
Here’s Lele Pons looking elegant in black (and thankfully not falling over).
Here’s Austin getting ready to croon his heart out.
This wasn’t the first time creators have walked for D&G either…
Cameron Dallas walked in their January 2017 show as well.
We think it’s awesome that creators are making waves in so many different industries! Here’s hoping that Milan’s 2018 catwalk shows only features YouTubers (we’re kind of joking but not really).
