Few things get us more angry than people assuming fashion and beauty YouTubers are “dumb” or vacant. Just because they focus on the visual side of life doesn’t mean they aren’t intelligent, articulate people. Luckily, we’ve only personally experienced this a few times and thought the world had moved on… That is, until the Sunday Times Style magazine wrote a little fiction feature which imagines a day in the life of a beauty vlogger and managed to upset a lot of people.
The magazine, which has previously featured the likes of Tanya Burr and Lily Pebbles, didn’t write about the photography or video editing skills, nor did it feature the hours spent writing blog posts or going out to meet with PR companies and beauty brands. Instead, it makes beauty vloggers look like shallow and stupid airheads. Because old school media clearly has a lot to learn.

Lily was quick to add that she knows not everyone will “get” YouTube but negatives pieces like the aforementioned Sunday Times Style piece causes more harm than good to a growing industry filled with talented people.
