Here's Why Zoella Is Breaking Records Yet Again

Zoe's influence never fails to surprise us.
If you don't already know about Zoella's Book Club then where have you been? For those not in the know, she uploaded a surprise video titled My Book Club Picks on Wednesday, revealing that the limited edition copies of the eight novels she has recommended will be stocked on the shelves of WHSmith from Thursday 9th June, the very next day after her video went live.
And it looks like the YA sales are going through the roof - and it's not just in WHSmiths. Amazon's Best Sellers chart shows that Zoella has already sky-rocketed these young adult authors to the top of the charts, in particular Amy Alwards' novel, The Potion Diaries.
Amy, who just happens to be Girl Online's editor, saw her book jump from position 35,595 to 316, just 24 hours after Zoella's announcement, and she's not the only author to have their book fly up the charts. At the time of writing, Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell is now positioned at number 56 with Beautiful Broken Things by Sara Barnard following behind at 57. Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon has made it into the Top 20 at number 15 and so has All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven, sitting at number 13.
We have talked here on the site before about the enormous impact Zoella noticing you can have and these young adult authors are just the latest edition of the individuals she's propelled to fame, which began with her now vlogging boyfriend, Alfie Deyes and her new BFF Mark Ferris. The power of the supervlogger has even seen her friend, and possible future brother in law, Sean Elliott OConnor's channel hit 250 thousand subscribers in just three days - crazy!
We still wish for the day when Zoe will notice us, but until then, we will start making our way through her Book Club recommendations. Please let us know whether you have got your hands on any of Zoe's limited edition book copies yet and check out our latest episode of SLAY or NAY to keep you up to date with the YouTube world.
