For those of you who enjoy perusing through Daniel Howell's old YouTube videos (and we're going to assume that's quite a lot of you), you may have noticed that a few videos from around 2011 have recently disappeared. But why has Daniel deleted his old videos? It turns out that it may have all been down to one email from a new fan.

Talking to fans during a livestream yesterday, Daniel explained that while he actually thinks it's important for creators to keep old videos up so newer creators can see the humble beginnings from which every famous YouTuber has started, after receiving an email from an enthusiastic but misguided fan he decided to scrub a select few videos from the internet all together.

Explaining that he'd only deleted around "nine" videos, Daniel revealed that "some people were watching my old videos and they were liking what they saw, not ironically." And when an 11-year-old fan named Sandra* got in touch to declare herself a "Danosaur" - the name of Daniel's phandom during his extremely ironic 2011 phase - he knew he had to scrub some references to Danosaurs away. Here's what the fan had to say:

To Dan, I am your biggest fan. honestly I can't explain how much I love you and your videos. My name is Sandra, I'm 11 and watching your videos is literally the only thing I do with my life. Please give me a shout out in your videos, it would mean the world to me, I am a Danosaur for life."

"What I cannot handle," Daniel said in response to the email, "is the thought of anyone stumbling across my existence on the internet, and instead of going 'I like this Dan guy for hat he's tweeting and posting now', going, 'ooh yeah, gimme that xD, gimme that llama in the placenta... that good shit.' I'm objectively saying that's terrible."

"It's not me 2018, it's not the world 2018, and I don't want it to be any of you, 2018," he added.

Luckily, Daniel hasn't deleted his most iconic early videos, so there's still lots for throwback fans to enjoy.
