It’s not often that when YouTubers work with a charity or non-profit organisation, they allow themselves to be affected by the experience for very long. But Bethan Leadley, aka MusicalBethan, isn’t like most creators.

After taking a trip to Uganda earlier this summer with Save The Children, Bethan has finally posted footage of her experience – set to a gorgeous cover of “People Help The People” by Birdy. We get to see Bethan meeting locals of the area she visited, learning about the improved free healthcare of Uganda, and reacting to a completely contrasting lifestyle to what she is used to.

“You really appreciate what you have,” Bethan admits in vlog footage during the break.  “I don’t see the point in life if we don’t give back and help each other anymore”.

It’s obvious that Bethan took her 3-day trip in July to heart: Upon returning home, she admitted that her “complete outlook on life [had] changed” after interacting with the people of Uganda.

“They aren’t just a statistic,” she writes. “They are people with dreams, hopes and ambitions just like any of us.”

My complete outlook on life has changed in 3 days in Uganda. I have cried tears of deep sadness, laughter and happiness….

Bethan’s video for Save The Children helps to promote their upcoming event on the Millennium Bridge this week, designed to grab the attention of the world leaders at the upcoming UN summit in New York. You can find out more about that here, and you can watch the video below from Save The Children’s resident YouTuber Chloe Dungate, to see more of her and Bethan’s Uganda experience.

Great work Bethan! You’re officially our YouTuber of the week.
