A lot of people are asking “Who is Jeffree Star?”. He’s the name on everyone’s lips- and not just for his successful makeup line. Part YouTuber, part drama obsessive and part entrepreneur, Jeffree has been making headlines lately for all the wrong reasons as fans and friends publicly slate him for his apparent racist views.

Jeffree Star’s Real Name
Jeffree Star was born Jeffrey Lynn Steininger and was raised by his mother in America after his father passed away when he was very young. Jeffree’s mother was a model and he used to tag along to her shoots, experimenting with makeup and cosmetics and convincing his mum to allow him to wear makeup to school.
Jeffree Star’s Early Career
Jeffree Star has done a lot in his life but makeup has always been his passion. When he graduated high school, Star moved to LA and used to hit up clubs in nine inch heels and with a fake I-D in the hope of making some valuable connections. Eventually, it paid off and Jeffree was soon being booked for makeup jobs and even modelling himself.
It was Myspace that really propelled his career and Jeffree because a huge hit on the social media site. By 2006, Jeffree was recognised as Myspace’s most connected profile and became famous for uploading dramatic photoshoots and music.
Jeffree Star’s Music Career
As well as makeup and modelling, Jeffree has released several albums and he used Myspace to showcase his abilities in the early stages of social media. Jeffree began a career in electro-pop when he befriended music icon Peaches who encouraged him to make music. Throughout his foray into music, Jeffree has released an EP called Cupcakes Taste Like Violence and an album called Beauty Killer.
Jeffree Star Cosmetics
Jeffree Star Cosmetics launched in 2014 and quickly become a huge success, in part thanks to the hype created on social media and YouTube videos showcasing the products.
Jeffree first started making his own products when working as a makeup artist and this inspired him to produce his own line. The most iconic products in the range are the Velour Liquid Lipsticks which come in a ton of shades including a bright yellow called Queen Bee and a deep red called Unicorn Blood. As well as lip products, Jeffree is also known for his range of highlighters which are currently all sold out.
Is Jeffree Star A Racist?
The racism drama has surrounded Jeffree Star for a long time with various sources and examples of evidence online. One of the most infamous incidents is when Jeffree repeatedly called a girl the “N” word; this has been caught on camera. Jeffree is also guilty of doing “black face”.
Jeffree Star And Kylie Jenner
One of Jeffree’s most famous feuds is with Kylie Jenner. The pair came to blows when Jeffree slated Kylie’s Lip Kit and posted a lengthy negative review with photographs on social media.
Jeffree Star And Kat Von D
The latest drama emerging with Jeffree is with his (now ex) friend Kat Von D. After Jeffree’s racism drama began to bubble up again online, Kat took to Instagram to publicly denounce their friendship over this and a whole host of other reasons.
Jeffree then responded to Kat on Twitter and in a video dedicated to addressing the drama and put his side of the story forward. The video gained over 3.8 million views within just 48 hours.
Jeffree keeps battling the drama, addressing and slating those criticising him. In terms of his business, Jeffree Star Cosmetics continues to excel with huge sell-out products. No doubt the recent press around his drama with Kat has helped heighten his celebrity status.
