It’s been a crazy week for the YouTube community so far and it’s only Tuesday. After covering the total censorship of the LGBTQ+ community under YouTube’s Restricted Mode feature, it didn’t take long for the whole community to be upset. However, whilst we’ve written enough about what YouTube is saying (or not saying), we now believe it’s time to see how this news made YouTubers react.
Below, we’ve rounded up the creator reactions to the news today that YouTube and the Restricted Mode is “wrong” and that they are doing their best to fix it. Make sure you read all previous coverage to stay up to date on this story as it develops.
Jenn McAllister pointed out a massive flaw in the Restricted Mode feature… YouTube are censoring their OWN YouTube Red show!
Riyadh says he’s “so happy with this response from YouTube” which marks the moment they will seek to correct silencing LGBTQ+ voices.
Ingrid is the perfect angel as always; thinking more about the community as a whole and not just her own YouTube content.
