Gaming videos

By Charleyy Hodson

Make sure you watch them all!

Video games are a huge deal on the Internet, and with more and more games coming out every single week, it's starting to look impossible for us to play them all. But thankfully we all have the luxury of watching other people play games far better than we ever will. But, the real question is, which ones are best gaming videos of 2017 so far?! Here's your answer.

We've rounded up 15 of the funniest, most shocking and downright unmissable gaming videos on YouTube from 2017 so far with special appearances from the likes of iHasCupquake, JackSepticEye and VanossGaming amongst some standout viral hits. If you can think of anymore favourites, let us know in the comments below and we're more than happy to update this list!

best gaming videos

1. Griffin McElroy + Nick Robinson, Touch The Skyrim

Griffin and Nick have been making a name for themselves on the official Polygon YouTube channel recently by totally ruining seemingly innocent games. When they aren't staring a demon in the face in their hilarious playthrough of Beam.NG, then they're creating the sexiest female Orc this world has ever seen and making her go on sex crusade across Skyrim. Everything I just typed was factually correct.

2. Felix Kjellberg + Marzia Bisognin, The Sims 4

Normally, fans get to see this YouTube power couple play games over on the PewDiePie channel, but this charming series has seen them play The Sims 4 on Marzia's, where they've lived out her interior design fantasies and made 100% accurate depictions of themselves. In the last episode they were being mean to plant people, and if that isn't enough reason to binge watch this playthrough then why are you still reading this sentence? Get outta here.

3. JackFrags, PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds

PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds is one of the newer titles on this list, but it has generated some of the funniest gaming moments in months thanks to its gruellingly difficult player base. JackFrags (as can be seen in the video below) realises how harsh this game can be when trying to play the game solo, especially when you're trying to jump over rooftops and drive around incredibly loud boats. Well, he makes it look easy. He makes the rest of us feel like idiots for being so bad.

4. RogersBase, Legend Of Zelda Sidon/Gaston Parody

If you haven't played The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild yet, there's still a pretty strong chance you've heard about the Shark Prince everyone is lusting after. But don't worry if this meme went by without you noticing, here's RogersBase singing a Sidon/Gaston (Beauty and the Beast) parody that we promise will get stuck in your head for days.

5. GameRanx, Mass Effect: Andromeda

You may not have played it, but I bet you've seen all those Mass Effect glitches kicking around the Internet. Well, if you want to see a giant montage of all the "dumb yet hilarious" glitches that people were able to capture in the game, then look no further than this GameRanx video which does a solid job of compiling all the best ones.

6. JackSepticEye, Rick and Morty VR

Yeah, Rick and Morty have a Virtual Reality game coming out and it looks freaking incredible. Whilst this is just another standard JackSepticEye upload, the way he laughs and genuine enjoys this games speaks volumes to how perfectly the developers got this one right. There's a genuine chance that this title alone could shift a few more VR headsets.

7. iHasCupquake, 1-2 Switch

When the Nintendo Switch launched, people were practically falling over to play the limited selection of games that were released on day one. Luckily, if you weren't able to pick up the console and play them for yourselves, here's iHasCupquake and her husband doing some A+ dancing with the 1-2-Switch.

8. JackSepticEye/PewDiePie/Markiplier, Resident Evil 7 Jump Scare Montage

Look, we weren't going to put three separate Resident Evil 7 videos on this list, so thankfully some clever sod put all of the best jump scare reactions from the likes of JackSepticEye, PewDiePie and Markiplier all in one place for us! The Internet certainly knows how to spend its time.

9. TwoMad, "Nerf Lucio"

This isn't just any Overwatch Lucio playthrough, this is the BEST Overwatch Lucio playthrough. This guy is a serious troll and if you can understand exactly why, or have seen players like this for yourself on the battlefield, this video will 100% have you in giggles. That's a money back guarantee.

10. IGN, Grand Theft Auto TV Trailer

OK, so this isn't exactly a gaming video, but it's one of the best videos about video games that has been uploaded to YouTube in 2017... so we're still good. On April Fools Day, IGN uploaded this damn near convincing trailer to their channel for the brand new AMC TV show called Grand Theft Auto... and my god do we want to watch it.

11. VanossGaming, GTA5 Online

Back again with the Grand Theft Auto V hype, but we can't talk about the best gaming videos of any given year and not share VanossGaming's contribution to the genre. Not only are his some of the most viewed and consistently funny let's plays of GTA, but they continue to be hugely popular years of the games release. Now that's real power.

12. PewDiePie, Sniper Elite

Okay, so this isn't technically one of the best gaming videos of 2017... it may not even be one of the best PewDiePie videos of 2017. But it was uploaded mere days after he was wrapped up in the Wall Street Journal/Anti-Semite controversy, which made the shock of awe of him playing a game purely about shooting Nazi's (and Hitler) in the balls even more incredible. This was a video for the history books, regardless of what side of the argument you're on.

13. Dan and Phil, Club Penguin

Everyone, let's just take a minute to weep for Club Penguin. The online game was sadly shut down this year, but not before Dan and Phil had their final turn inside one of the most iconic browser games in history. We'll let the video speak for itself, because truly words don't do it justice. No questions asked, one of the best gaming videos of all time.

14. Jenna Marbles, "I Suck At Video Games 4"

Jenna Marbles may suck at playing video games, but she doesn't suck at making them entertaining. In this video (the fourth in a hilarious series that we truly want to see more of), fans get to see Jenna famous indie titles such as I Am Bread, Octodad and Genital Jousting. Make sure you watch until the end where Jenna decides she just wants to be an octopus stripper and divorce her wife.

15. Markiplier, The Cat Games

And finally, we have Markiplier playing a game all about cats. There's no OTT jokes, no foul humour and no ludicrously difficult challenges... it's literally just Mark playing games about keeping a cat balanced on a tap as well as catching bugs and playing billiards. What more could you possibly want from a YouTube video in 2017?! This could honestly be one of the best gaming videos of all time if you ask me.
