A Dog Is For Life, Not Just For YouTube Views

Stop buying dogs just to vlog them, dammit
As the Christmas season approaches and the usual warning appears for wannabe dog owners that a dog is, indeed, for life, and not just for Christmas, I thought it fit to advise another group: YouTubers.
I get it, the ad-pocalypse is hard - and even without it, YouTubing is a difficult job where it's hard to find consistent success. A video series might get a ton of views, but then suddenly drop off as the audience runs off to watch something newer and shinier. You may find yourself in a creative dry spell (and hey, that's perfectly natural) or you may find your channel suddenly lacking a direction. You may begin to yearn for a surefire way to get some sweet, sweet clicks.
But please, don't do it by buying a puppy.
I GOT A PUPPY!
"I GOT A PUPPY!" Screams your video title. "Here we come!" Scream one million views, in reply. "Come on in!" Yells the Trending Page. It all certainly seems very tempting.
But then you have a living creature in your home. A living creature that needs care, attention, affection, food and medical care - for a decade.
Dogs are wonderful, kind, loyal creatures that don't deserve to be treated as a prop. If you don't think you have the time and capacity to care for the lil pup, please don't bring it home.
And so help me, if you have a dog and treat it as anything less than a small fury god I will personally come to your house and destroy you. Happy Holidays!
