We Cried Unicorn Tears And Here's What Happened

We the Unicorns

By Hollie-Anne Brooks

In the name of science and our readership, we're always up for testing the best of YouTube's tutorials. So when we saw Katie Snooks had uploaded a rainbow tears tutorial just in time for Halloween, we knew we had to give it a go.

Our last Halloween inspired tutorial - the trippy double face - was pretty hard but we had faith we could paint on a bunch of sparkly tears. Side note: Katie, if you're reading, we reckon you should rename this tutorial "Unicorn tears" because unicorns clearly cry multi-coloured glitter tears.

So armed with a cup of water, a pointed make-up brush and some good old Barry M pigments, we tried it out. And photographed it all for your hilarious viewing pleasure, of course.

We armed ourselves with our tools and got stuck right in.

The first step was the eyeliner...

And OMG we did't do a bad job!

Although not as good as Katie's superb wings, of course.

Next, we created the tears

This part required us to use a pointed brush dipped into water and then dipped into pigment. We pressed the brush onto our waterline and away the tears went. Simple as that.

Sadly, our pink wasn't bright enough so it didn't show up exactly how we wanted it to. But we were well impressed!

Finally, we just had to do the other side to finish the look.

Screw you, High School art teacher who said we couldn't paid for sh*t!

Not bad, right?

So how do we rate it?

Ease: 9/10. This was easy as pie, even for us.

Reality or fantasy: Reality, baby! If we were to do this again, we'd not be lazy and go to another Boots to try and find a purple pigment and we'd also use a brighter pink one. But apart from that, we think it's a winner.

Are we sad now?: Initially, we felt fabulous. Then, because we had so much glitter covering our eyes, we fell up the stairs and hurt our pride.
