If you're reading this, you probably agree that having a YouTube channel is the "in" thing. But it's still taken the rest of the world a lot of time to catch up - some mainstream celebrities are only just discovering Twitter.

Fortunately, the YouTube community can welcome a cool new member into their ranks - actress and Game Of Thrones star Maisie Williams officially launched her own channel yesterday.

18 year-old Maisie already has a few YouTube pals (you may have seen her appear in Caspar Lee or Superfruit's videos in the past) but this is her first foray into the YouTube world by herself. And sticking to a classic format with the "Q&A; video", she's already off to a good start!

Still, Maisie's not the first celebrity to have a go at vlogging. Whether they're running their own channel or have just gotten behind a webcam once or twice, there's actually a handful of famous and internet-savvy actors, musicians and personalities who have given YouTube a shot. And after we talked about YouTubers who've broken into mainstream yesterday, we thought it'd be fun to look at the opposite. Here's just five of our favourite examples:

Tom Fletcher

The McBusted singer learned about this YouTube malarky after his sister, Carrie Hope Fletcher, had monumental success with her own channel. Not only are you likely to see video messages shared between Tom and Carrie, but there's a whole lot of adorable family action to expect with Tom's wife Giovanna and their son Buzz - not to mention another baby on the way, too!

Amy Poehler

Amy Poehler's Smart Girls is an awesome project dedicated to celebrating the successes and empowerment of young girls everywhere. Their channel has had a revamp in the past couple of years, but one of its most defining features is "Ask Amy", a series where Amy herself recorded some basic webcam vlogs offering different types of advice.

Taylor Swift

As much as we might want it, Taylor hasn't gone down the "full-time vlogger" route just yet; However, she still has her own YouTube channel, and occasionally we get some self-shot wonderfulness from her like the Christmas video above.

Jamie Oliver

Celeb chef Jamie has gone one step further than vlogging; on his own channel, he has brought many of his famous recipes to the eyes of the Internet. Not only that, but he's also been doing collabs with some of the site's best homegrown creators.

Karlie Kloss

Supermodel Karlie became a full-blown YouTuber a couple of months ago when she launched her channel "klossy". Documenting all the glitz and glamour of model life, she still finds time for some well-produced vlogs; imparting wisdom and advice on growing up, self-confidence and hard work to her adoring fans.
