Got an exciting new video project in the works? John and Hank Green can help you make it happen.
Do you have an upcoming project that involves something educational/informational/super awesome? You might just be qualified to get some financial support from none other that the Vlogbrothers.
For a while, John and Hank Green had previously been running their channel without any advertising, now that all their funding comes through merchandise, other big video/event projects like VidCon, Crash Course and SciShow, and crowdfunding through sites like Patreon. But after some consultation with their fanbase, the Greens have decided to put the ads back up, and the revenue is going to two awesome causes:
- The Foundation to Decrease Worldsuck, Nerdfighteria's homegrown non-profit organisation;
- The Vlogbrothers Sponsorship.
The latter is a new project, recently announced to the public via John's Twitter (courtesy of his awesome assistant Rosianna Halse Rojas while the author takes a social media break):
Are you working on an online educational project? Consider applying for the vlogbrothers sponsorship! https://t.co/ZwE1v38yIn -rhr— John Green (@johngreen) October 30, 2015
The online application form for the sponsorship encourages creators who are "working on an online educational/informational/super awesome project" to apply. Previous or ongoing projects that the Vlogbrothers Sponsorship is responsible for include educational webseries Physics Girl, and "Uplift", an online non-profit dedicated to spreading awareness and prevention of sexual abuse.
There's no specification on how much money is being allocated to each project, but it is open to people from all over the world (although you may have to fill out some complicated tax forms if you're outside the US). But with so many other competitive and questionable sources of funding popping up such as YouTube's rumoured loan system, it might be preferable to know your budget is coming from other creators who just want to see other cool stuff get made. So why not apply?
