We Tried To Recreate A Zoella Hair Tutorial And Here's What Happened

How do YouTubers make everything look so easy? Contouring, baking a rainbow cake and making your own fancy dress costume. IT ALL LOOKS SO SIMPLE.
Zoella is the queen of the hair tutorial. Until she snipped her locks off earlier this year, Zoe's ombre bum-length hair was the epitome of Tumblr culture. Over the years, Zoe's hair tutorials have become some of her most popular videos of all time. So we thought we'd give one ago.
We figured we'd start with something so basic (in both senses of the word), the messy bun. Everyone can do a top knot, right? Here's how we got on.
We were armed with our tools. Except we swapped hairspray for texturising spray because we're wild like that.
Next we had to put our hair in a high pony tail. Which made us feel a bit dizzy/80s fabulous.
EXACTLY THE SAME
Next, we had to twist the ponytail a little. LOOK AT OUR HAPPY FACE! (And eyebrows that urgently need filling in)
Then we had to form the bun itself. Pretty simple...
Until we realise HOW LITTLE HAIR WE HAVE! Zoella has big buns.
We then had to pull bits down at the side. And this is where things got messy.
HOW DOES SHE MAKE IT LOOK SO EASY?!
Despite knotting our hair so much it made us weep, we listened to Zoe and whacked a load of spray on it. Because YOLO.
And here's the finished looks side-by-side
So how do we rate it?
Ease: 8/10. Apart from those pesky tendrils that felt like we were ripping our hair out, this was pretty easy to achieve.
Reality or fantasy: Sadly, it's a fantasy. Unless you have as much hair as Zoe does in this video.
Do we now feel like Zoella: We're chubby, have crap hair and no pug. So no, not yet.
BRB, we're off to spend our the rest of our lives with some deep conditioner and a tangle teaser...
