The main channel of the InfoWars conspiracy theorist has been wiped from the site
'TheAlexJones' the main channel of Alex Jones, the infamous 'InfoWars' conspiracy theorist, has been taken down by YouTube. This follows Apple removing the InfoWars podcast from its podcast service and Facebook also clamping down on his content.
Why was the channel taken down?
In a statement, YouTube said that: "All users agree to comply with our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines when they sign up to use YouTube. When users violate these policies repeatedly, like our policies against hate speech and harassment or our terms prohibiting circumvention of our enforcement measures, we terminate their accounts."
Jones is well-known for spreading dangerous and salacious false information, so it's not a surprise that YouTube found he violated their terms of service. Jones has disseminated a huge number of bizarre conspiracies over the years, but is perhaps most known for his claim that the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School was a conspiracy - much to the constant dismay of the grief-stricken parents of the young children murdered.
The real question is why YouTube allowed the channel to stay online as long as it did.
