The movie star will lend his voice to the main character of this anime-style series

Michael B. Jordan is taking a starring role in gen:LOCK, the new anime-style show from the folks at Rooster Teeth.

Jordan will voice the main character, Julian Chase, who is the first pilot for the next generation giant, weaponized robots called mecha. The show is similar in animation style to Rooster Teeth's wildly successful show RWBY.

The series is created, written and directed by Gray G. Haddock, head of Rooster Teeth Animation. On the casting announcement he said: “Michael’s visionary career choices and commitment to meaningful entertainment, not to mention his love of anime, line up perfectly with what drives Rooster Teeth... We’re thrilled for the opportunity to do some cool sci-fi storytelling together.”

The show will premiere later this year, though no official release date has been specified yet. The show will debut exclusively on First, Rooster Teeth’s streaming service.
