RIP Colin Kroll

Colin Kroll, the co-founder of Vine was found dead in his New York City apartment at the age of 34.

According to TMZ, Kroll's girlfriend called police early Sunday and asked them to check up on him after she was unable to make contact with him. Police entered his downtown Manhattan apartment and found Kroll's body in his bedroom. He was pronounced dead at the scene and the New York medical examiner’s office will now determine the cause of death.

After Vine was bought, and then subsequently shut down by Twitter, Kroll went on to create HQ Trivia with fellow Vine creator Rus Yusupov. The quiz app was initially very popular when it launched in August 2017 but more recently in had seen a slump in players and downloads.

HQ Trivia issued this statement about Kroll's passing: “We learned today of the passing of our friend and founder, Colin Kroll, and it’s with deep sadness that we say goodbye. Our thoughts go out to his family, friends and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”

Kroll’s Vine and Trivia HQ co-founder, Rus Yusupov, posted his condolences on Twitter. “So sad to hear about the passing of my friend and co-founder Colin Kroll. My thoughts & prayers go out to his loved ones. I will forever remember him for his kind soul and big heart. He made the world and internet a better place. Rest in peace, brother."
